Back working on my debut novel after seven years

I started a novel 9 years ago. The last time I touched it was 2019. So, I am commencing the re-editing process again.  I started Chapter 1 today. The novel currently has 46 chapters and about 89, 856 words. I fully intended it to be a full-length novel. I plotted it out, assigned the chapters, and worked through the dialogue. Since the main scenes take place at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, there are many descriptions. The U.S. State Department designates its embassy missions this way: “Embassy Islamabad.”

Of note, this particular site is a 56 acre embassy in Pakistan, which is even larger than the white house. Its 16 buildings include seven story office buildings and annexes. It is the second largest US embassy in the world. I could elaborate a lot about this mission but I will continue to blog about it as I finish up work on the novel.

I may finish it sometime this year. Over the time it has been a work laying dormant, ideas have popped into my mind and I would write myself notes to incorporate them when I got the time. Working a full-time job since I stopped work on it has been the main reason. But I may be near a semi-retirement and I wanted to get this finished.

As this year started, I had several goals in mind to prepare for this time in my life. I lost 40 lbs. last year. I started working out at the gym with a personal trainer, I cleaned out my office. I started putting work into my web site and social media outlets, and started a writing routine again. It has been refreshing! Just getting things moving again feels like progress on my life.

My novel is likely one-of-a-kind since it evolves the main character from Amish, to U.S. Marine, to Special Forces, to Special assignment from the Pentagon, and a last iteration, which will forever change his life. You will hear more about this soon.

Stay up with my blog because I try to keep current with world events that concern American and global foreign policy actions and changes. Make comments here and let me know you are reading my posts. It is an encouragement. Stay well my friends!
