Best Selling Books in US in 2025

I obtained this list from the source above. As I reviewed the selections, it became clear that many are children’s books. I wondered why there were so many children’s book authors. Some of the mystery books I saw out on Books-A-Million‘s shelves, as well as Barnes and Noble‘s this weekend.

One book on this list sold 2.7 million copies in just 7 days. Another has been a bestseller for over 50 years. 🤯 Here is the inside scoop on the books everyone in America is obsessed with right now

#1 “The Let Them Theory” (Mel Robbins) This book wasn’t just a bestseller; it was the #1 TikTok Book Release of 2025. The “Let Them” mindset became a viral movement across U.S. social media, encouraging people to let go of the stress of trying to control others.

#2 “Onyx Storm” (Rebecca Yarros) In its very first week, this book sold 2.7 million copies. That’s more than any other adult novel in the last 20 years! It’s the third installment in the Empyrean series, which has officially turned “Romantasy” into a powerhouse genre in American publishing.

#3 “Sunrise on the Reaping” (Suzanne Collins) Fans waited years for this! It’s a prequel set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story, focusing on the 50th Hunger Games won by a young Haymitch Abernathy. Lionsgate has already greenlit the film adaptation for 2026.

#4 “The Housemaid” (Freida McFadden) A true underdog story. McFadden originally wrote this in 2019 but almost didn’t publish it because she thought it was “too dark.” Thanks to the “BookTok” community, it has now spent over 140 weeks on the NYT Bestseller list.

#5 “Partypooper” (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #20) This is a massive milestone—the 20th book in the series! To celebrate, the American hardcover edition was released with a unique “birthday cake texture” on the cover.

#6 “Dog Man: Big Jim Believes” (Dav Pilkey) Dav Pilkey, who struggled with ADHD and dyslexia as a child, creates these books specifically for “visual learners.” This 14th installment continues to be a staple in U.S. elementary school book fairs.

#7 “Atomic Habits” (James Clear) As of 2026, this book has officially surpassed 25 million copies sold. It is widely considered the “Self-Help Book of the Decade” in the U.S., used by everyone from pro athletes to CEOs.

#8 “Dog Man: Big Jim Begins” (Dav Pilkey) This 13th book in the series was one of the fastest-selling graphic novels of all time, proving that the demand for “The Scarlet Shedder” and his friends is higher than ever.

#9 “The Secret of Secrets” (Dan Brown) Robert Langdon returns! This 2025 release is the sixth installment in the series that began with The Da Vinci Code. It features a 688-page mystery involving advanced science and ancient codes.

#10 “Fourth Wing” (Rebecca Yarros) The author, a military wife and mother of six, wrote the protagonist Violet with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a chronic condition the author lives with herself. It has become a landmark book for disability representation in fantasy.

#11 “Lights Out” (Navessa Allen) A breakout hit in the “dark romance” genre. The story follows a trauma nurse and a cybersecurity expert, exploring the blurred lines between digital fantasy and real-world obsession.

#12 “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” (Dr. Seuss) In the U.S., this book almost always hits the Top 15 every year. Why? Because it is the traditional graduation gift for high school and college students across the country.

#13 “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” (Eric Carle) A literal legend. Since its release in 1969, a copy of this book is sold somewhere in the world every 30 seconds.

#14 “The Crash” (Freida McFadden) Released in late 2024, this psychological thriller is set during a blizzard in Maine. It’s a fan favorite for “winter reading” marathons in the U.S.

#15 “The Tenant” (Freida McFadden) McFadden’s third appearance on this list! She is currently the most prolific thriller writer in America, often releasing multiple hits in a single year that dominate Amazon’s charts.
